Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies have arrived in Egypt ahead of their make-or-break showdown against Nigeria’s Edo Queens, as both teams battle for a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The two sides are set to resume their WAFU B qualifying final from the start of extra time on Thursday, October 29, in Cairo after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) overturned the original outcome of the encounter.

The rescheduled clash follows decisions by CAF’s Organising Committee for Women’s Football on September 26 and the CAF Appeal Board on October 16, which led to the initial penalty shootout result being nullified.

In a letter sent to both clubs, CAF directed that the match resume with the score locked at 2-2, requiring the teams to play two 15-minute periods of extra time to determine the winner.

Should neither side break the deadlock after 30 additional minutes, the match will be decided by a penalty shootout.

The stakes could hardly be higher, as the winner will stay in Egypt to compete in the main CAF Women’s Champions League tournament.
