Former Ghana international Asamoah Gyan has announced his decision to withdraw from the New Patriot Party (NPP) and other political activities to focus on humanitarian works.
Gyan declared that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had treated Ghanaian youth unfairly, and he now intended to dedicate himself to the Asamoah Gyan Foundation, which aims to empower youth.
In his capacity as the head of the Youth and Sports Manifesto subcommittee, Gyan had previously this year aggressively backed Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's effort.
In his statement, the former Ghana captain did, however, make it clear that he will no longer be involved in partisan politics.
On December 7, 2024, he expressed his desire for all parties to have a peaceful election and reaffirmed his resolve to carry out humanitarian activities free of political influence.
