Cote d’Ivoire head coach Emerse Fae has remodelled his backroom staff following the Elephants performance in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations.

This week, Fae has named former Cote d’Ivoire goalkeeper Gerard Gnahouan as the Elephants’ new goalkeeping coach.

The 45-year old previously served as Sochaux’s goalkeeping coach in French Ligue 2.

Gnahouan, who was capped ten times between 2002 and 2011, will have the responsibility of bringing out the best in Yahia Fofana, the team’s first choice safest-pair-of-hands.

Former fitness coach of Morocco’s Under-17 team and OGC Nice Samir Anba has been weaved-in as the new fitness coach of the Elephants.

Jeremy Antonio, who worked with Fae at Clermont, joins the team as a video analyst.

“This new composition of the technical staff marks the start of a new era for the Cote d’Ivoire national team, and expectations are high,” said Fae.

Fae kept faith with assistant Guy Demel while former international Alain Gouamene joined as the second assistant coach of the African champions.

The 40-year-old led an all-local setup to a surprise African title in March after being promoted from Gasset’s number two following their near exit at the group stage.
