Retired Ghanaian footballer Felix Aboagye has delivered a cautionary message to Dreams FC in the aftermath of their goalless draw against Egyptian giants Zamalek SC in the CAF Confederation Cup semifinal in Cairo.

Despite a commendable showing against Zamalek at the packed Cairo International Stadium, where goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi showcased his skills with remarkable saves, Aboagye stressed the importance of maintaining vigilance.

Highlighting a circulating video of the team jubilating in the changing room after the first leg draw, Aboagye warned against premature celebrations, citing the potential dangers of complacency.

"I saw a viral video of Dreams FC players and technical team celebrating in their dressing room after their first leg draw against Zamalek. The task hasn’t ended yet for them to be celebrating without knowing how the second leg will go. Complacency could hinder their progress," he cautioned during an interview with Nimdee FM.

A former player of Zamalek, Aboagye emphasized the historical strength of Egyptian teams away from home in African competitions, stressing the challenges posed by Zamalek's traveling prowess.

"While North African teams typically dominate the African competition, with Dreams FC being the only West African side this season, it's crucial to remember that Zamalek are formidable travelers," he remarked.

Acknowledging Dreams FC's accomplishments, Aboagye urged the team to remain focused and complete the task at hand, especially against tactically disciplined Arabian clubs when playing away.

“Yes, we are all applauding them but the task isn’t yet ended, the task ahead should be finished which I think is very vital. Zamalek are very good travelers. All the Arabian clubs are tactically disciplined when playing away so I think they (Dreams) shouldn’t start jubilating but they should remain focus and finish the task ahead,” he ended.

With the second leg looming large, Dreams FC, under the guidance of Karim Zito, will host Zamalek on Sunday, April 28, 2024, televised live on Max TV at 4 p.m.
