The Egyptian top-tier outfit have cancelled the contract of the 26-year-old defensive midfielder after just nine months, Kickgh.com can exclusively confirm.

Egypt Premier League side Eastern Company SC have terminated their contract with former Hearts of Oak midfielder Benjamin Afutu Kotey following an uninspiring performance.

Afutu Kotey joined the Egypt Premier League newcomers on a three-year deal in September 2021 on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract at Hearts of Oak.

Kickgh.com can exclusively report that the former Black Stars ‘B’ midfielder has arrived in Ghana after his three-year contract with Eastern Company SC was abrogated after just nine months.

Eastern Company SC currently occupies the bottom of the 2021/22 Egypt Premier League season with thirteen points after 20 games.

Afutu has been struggling for regular playing time at Eastern Company SC in his debut season where he made only eight appearances — 426 minutes — for the club in the ongoing Egypt Premier League season.

Afutu was pivotal for the Rainbow lads in the 2020/21 season, helping the club to win the Ghana Premier League and the MTN FA Cup. He made twenty-nine appearances for Hearts of Oak and scored five goals.
