Former Nigeria international, Finidi George, who flopped as head coach of the Super Eagles is set to make a quick return to coaching barely a month after resigning as head coach of Nigeria’s senior national team.

The former Enyimba head coach Super Eagles managerial reign lasted only 40 days after two poor run of  results in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June.

Under his tutelage, Finidi led Nigeria to a 1-1 draw with South Africa at home and then suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Benin Republic, raising questions about his eligibility to lead the team.

Meanwhile, reports coming through indicates that Finidi could be set for a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) as Rivers United are considering hiring him as their next head coach ahead of the 2024/25 season, Daily Post reports.

The Pride of Rivers wants to effect changes to their technical team after struggling in the league under head coach Evans Ogenyi, finishing 8th in the standings with 53 points, failing to secure a continental ticket for the first time in three years.
