Ghanaian champions FC Samartex 1996 have left the shores of Ghana en route to Cameroon's capital Yaounde ahead of their CAF Champions League first preliminary round against Victoria United this weekend.
The Timber Giants after clinching the Ghana Premier League last season, lost the service of two key midfielders; captain Emmanuel Keyekeh and Dauda Yussif but have still made some decent inclusions to fill the loopholes to make them competitive.
The team departed the country with 18 players, the technical team and other officials by air and are expected to arrive in hours time.
The team have left very early for quick acclimatization as they are expected to hold series of training sessions including one at the match venue before the match-day.
The game is slated for Sunday, August 18, at the Japoma Stadium.
