Ghanaian champions FC Samartex 1996 have held their first training session in Douala, Cameroon, ahead of their CAF Champions League preliminary round encounter against Victoria United this weekend.
The Timber Giants will be making their debut appearance in the continental showpiece finally after clinching the Ghana Premier League title last season.
The team endured what was quiet a long journey with 18 players, the technical team and other officials and finally arrived in Douala on the early hours of today.
After checking in at their hostel, FC Samartex held their first training session earlier today under the tutelage of head coach Nurudeen Amadu as they look to acclimatize quickly to weather, state of the pitch and others to have well gelled and poised for the game.
The club's top officials like General Manager, Edmund Ackah, Human Resource Manager, Thomas Asaasie-Gyimah, Business Development Manager, Anyaba Kwasi Paul and Dr. Yussif Tijani were all present at today's training.
The first leg is slated for this Sunday, August 18, at the Japoma Stadium.
