Samartex midfielder Lord Hilary Adabo has assured fans that his team is unfazed as they prepare for their CAF Champions League clash against Cameroonian side Victoria United.
The Timber Giants will face Victoria United in an away match on August 18, 2024, before hosting the return leg at the Accra Sports Stadium. Under the guidance of coach Nurudeen Amadu, the team has already arrived in Douala, Cameroon, ahead of the crucial encounter.
The squad will settle into their hotel and undergo a shake-up session later today, followed by two days of intensive training before the match.
Adabo, speaking to Kessben FM, emphasized that the team is motivated and not feeling the pressure. “It’s a big platform for us to prove our worth in Africa. This is a huge motivation for the players. We are not under pressure going into the game. We are representing Ghana and are aware of the task ahead. We’ve talked to each other as we aim to do a decent job against Victoria United,” he stated.
As the Ghana Premier League champions, Samartex is making its debut in the CAF elite competition after dethroning Medeama in the recent season.
The winner of this tie will advance to the second preliminary round, where they may face Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic for a chance to reach the group stages.
