The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has reached a verdict concerning the Equatorial Guinean Football Association (FEGUIFUT) and player Emilio Nsue López's participation in matches for the national team of Equatorial Guinea, including two games in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 preliminary competition, despite his ineligibility.
Following a thorough review of all evidence, the committee concluded that Nsue López was ineligible to play. Consequently, the matches in which he participated (Equatorial Guinea vs. Namibia and Liberia vs. Equatorial Guinea) are declared lost by forfeit by Equatorial Guinea, with a score of 3-0 in favor of the opposing teams.
Additionally, sanctions have been imposed:
- FEGUIFUT faces a fine of CHF 150,000.
- Emilio Nsue López receives a six-month ban from playing for any representative team of any association.
The affected parties have been notified of the committee's findings. They have ten days to request a detailed explanation, which may be published on legal.fifa.com if requested. These decisions are subject to appeal before the FIFA Appeal Committee.
