Former Cameroon goalkeeper Carlos Kameni has earned his UEFA A Coaching Licence through the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), taking an important step towards becoming a coach.

Kameni completed the course in Madrid, beginning a new chapter in his football career after many years as a player.

He made his name in Spain, where he played for Espanyol and Málaga. He made more than 300 appearances for the two clubs and became known for his quick reflexes and strong performances.

During his time in Spain, Kameni also faced top clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona. His experience could help him as he moves from playing football to coaching.

The UEFA A Licence allows coaches to work with top youth teams and take assistant coaching roles at professional clubs. It is also a step towards the UEFA Pro Licence, the highest coaching qualification in European football.

Kameni enjoyed success with Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions during his playing career. He won an Olympic gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Games and the Africa Cup of Nations.

He also represented Cameroon at two FIFA World Cups and played in six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

His experience in international football and European leagues could be useful as he starts his coaching career.

Kameni’s achievement adds to the growing number of former African players who are taking advanced coaching courses to prepare for new roles in football.

Although his next move has not been announced, the UEFA A Licence gives him an important qualification as he looks to begin a career in professional coaching.
