Ghana’s Black Maidens came from behind to humble Kenya 2-1 in a preparatory friendly as they continue preparations for the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The game at the Stade Larbi Zaouli started on a good note with Kenya opening the scoring account out of nothing.
The Maidens responded through captain Sadiatu Wahab, who converted from the spot to restore parity and draw the Maidens back on level terms.
Ghana continued to push for a winner, with Priscilla Mensah completing the comeback by heading home to give the team a 2-1 lead.
The victory provides coach Joe Nana Adarkwah with another opportunity to build confidence ahead of the global tournament as the technical team continues to assess the squad in order to patch up all cracks before it begins.
Ghana have been drawn in a challenging group C alongside Norway, Brazil and Canada at the upcoming U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
The Black Maidens will begin their campaign against Norway on October 18.
