Center-back Sherif Mohammed has signed with Ethiopian Premier League club Mekele 70 Enderta FC following his departure from Asante Kotoko.

The 22-year-old center-back has agreed to a one-year deal with the Ethiopian side, with an option to extend after the 2024/25 season. Mohammed makes the move on a free transfer after his contract with Kotoko ended last season, where he made 11 appearances in the Ghana Premier League.

Having joined the Porcupine Warriors in August 2022 from EurAfrica FC following an unsuccessful trial in France, Mohammed played 20 matches in the Ghana Premier League and featured in two games in the CAF Champions League preliminary round. His performances earned him a call-up to the Ghana national team.

Mohammed was part of Ghana’s squad for the 2022 CHAN tournament in Algeria, where he played in the 2-0 quarter-final loss to Niger.

He becomes the second Kotoko player to move to Ethiopia this transfer window, following goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad’s signing with Ethiopia Coffee FC.
