The Ghana U-15 Girls national have successfully defended their title after defeating Burkina Faso 10-9 in a marathon of penalty shootouts to win the 2026 CAF African Schools Football Championship.
The final ended goalless in regulation time, forcing a tense penalty shootout where the Ghanaian girls held their nerve to emerge victorious in dramatic fashion.
The triumph marks back-to-back titles for the Black Damsels, having also lifted the trophy in the previous edition in Accra after defeating Uganda to complete the ‘host and win’
It was also a moment of redemption for the team, who had earlier suffered defeats to Burkina Faso in the WAFU B qualifiers and during the group stage of the same tournament.
Sandra Boakye’s side impressed throughout the competition, recording wins over Guinea (6-0) and Tanzania (2-1) before losing 1-0 to Burkina Faso in their final group game.
They booked their place in the final with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zambia in the semi-final, thanks to a decisive strike from Blessing Tetteh.
