Head coach of South Africa, Hugo Broos says getting a win is always crucial but made an honest submission that his team weren’t up to their best despite the narrow edge over Ghana’s home-based national team.

The Bafana Bafanas wrapped up their preparations for the 2025 AFCON with a narrow 1-0 win over the Black Galaxies in their final pre-AFCON friendly earlier today at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.

The game was a very open one with the game seeing less goals despite both teams creating numerous goal-scoring chances but failed to find the net.

However, the only goal that made the difference came in the 58th minute courtesy Orlando Pirates midfielder Sipho Mbule who stole from the center-half and made a little run before hitting beyond goalkeeper Lawrence Osei.

In a post-match interview, the experienced Belgian gaffer admitted he still have certain loopholes and blemishes in his squad that he will have to work on it before the tournament begins

“I’m happy with the result that we won the game, but I think we can play much better than today,” he said on SABC 2.

Broos added, “We didn’t really play a very good game, there was not so much movement in the team what we are used to, the passing was not good.

“So we still need a little bit work to be on the highest level for next week.”

South Africa will also depart to Morocco for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations where they have been drawn in Group B alongside Egypt, Angola and Zimbabwe.
