DR Congo has hit back at Nigeria following the Super Eagles petition to FIFA questioning the eligibility of certain Congolese players ahead of the CAF World Cup playoffs.

In a bold statement, DR Congo officials said: “If you can’t win on the pitch, don’t try to win from the back door. The World Cup has to be played with dignity and confidence. Not with lawyers’ tricks. Bring it.”

The dispute has increased tensions before the 2026 World Cup playoffs, showing that games should be won on the field, not in court. DR Congo’s stance is that results, not courtroom battles, should decide who qualifies.

FIFA now faces the delicate task of reviewing Nigeria’s petition while managing mounting pressure from both federations.
