Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has assured that the team is fully motivated to deliver a performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup that will make Ghana and the rest of Africa proud.
Ayew will be leading the squad to the tournament after playing a decisive role in the qualifiers, where he finished as both the team’s top scorer and top assist provider.
Speaking ahead of Ghana’s friendly against Wales on Tuesday, June 2, the versatile forward opened up on how training has been going and expressed strong belief that the Black Stars will catch many people off guard at the World Cup.
He pointed out that the team has several new players and the current focus is on improving as a group, with the aim of going to the tournament and representing Ghana and Africa in the best way possible.
Ayew made his confidence clear with this statement: “We have a lot of new players, and we just want to improve. We just want to go there and put on a show and represent Africa and Ghana the best we can. And I am confident that with the manager's ideas and the boys' commitment, I am sure that we will surprise people.”
The friendly match against Wales is scheduled to kick off at 6:45 pm on Tuesday, and it will also serve as the first test for Carlos Queiroz since he was appointed as Black Stars head coach.
