Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has stated plainly that advancing to the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup is the squad’s key objective and his primary focus, insisting all preparations are aimed at that goal.
After Ghana’s 1-1 stalemate with Wales in their last pre-World Cup friendly, the Portuguese manager laid out the short-term aim during the post-match interview with the reporters.
“At the end, we have to qualify for the second round. That is the main goal of the team and my main priority. That is our focus,” Queiroz said.
He underlined how crucial the group games will be, breaking it down to the minutes needed to progress. “270 minutes is what we are working on, and if we qualify for the next round, the show starts,” he added.
Ghana are in Group L with Panama, England, and Croatia. The Black Stars begin against Panama on June 17, face England on June 23, and finish the group stage versus Croatia on June 27.
