Former Ghana international, Abdul Majeed Waris has expressed his disappointment of the Black Stars inability to secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), describing it as extremely shameful.
The Black Stars failed to qualify to the Afcon for the first time in 21 years, managing just three points from their six matches in Group F, which included Angola, Sudan, and Niger.
Angola and Sudan annexed the top two slots to qualify for the continental showpiece slated to come off in Morocco next year.
Speaking on JoySports, Waris was straightforward when asked about his remarks on the situation.
“Everyone is hurt and we are not going to feel it that much now but when it’s time for the tournament, when you see the countries arriving for the tournament and then the joy, happiness that it brings into the country, that’s when the country [Ghana] will feel it more."
“It is something that we are all not happy about.”
