Reigning Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC booked themselves a place in group stages of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League for the first time in the club's history after eliminating Horoya AC in preliminary round of the competition.

 
Coach Evans Adotey and his charges have achieved a great feat of becoming the first Ghanaian in to reach the group stage of the CAF Champions League since 2012.
 
The last team from the West African nation to seal a ticket to the money zone of the Champion League was Berekum Chelsea after eliminating Cameroonian side Coton Sports.
 
For reaching the group stage, Medeama SC is guaranteed of $700,000 from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as prize money.
 
Should the Ghanaian giants qualify from the group stage, they will be receiving additional $200,000 for finishing among the eight clubs to play at the quarter-final stage.
