Head coach of the Super Eagles, Éric Sékou Chelle, voiced his opinions following the draw for AFCON 2025, held in Rabat, Morocco.
Nigeria is in Group C alongside tricky opponents Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania following the draw that was conducted on Monday, January 27.
Chelle, speaking in an interview, emphasized the competitiveness of the tournament, stating; "There is no little team in AFCON. You need to be focused."
He, however, went ahead to highlight the immediate focus on the World Cup qualifiers in March. with matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
“In March, we need to focus on the World Cup qualifiers, and after everything, in October, we can start to focus on AFCON. But for now, we need to win the two games,” he stressed.
Chelle reaffirmed his dedication to preparing well for the AFCON, set to start on December 21, after ensuring success in the qualifiers.
"There are four teams, and anyone in the AFCON can win the tournament. For now, I need to watch and work on my players. I need them to stay focused on the two games in March."
