Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi is the Nigerian player with most minutes played in English Premier League history, surpassing the legend Mikel Obi’s tally in the top-flight.
The 28-year old has been playing in the English Premier League since 2015 after making his debut with Arsenal.
He went on playing for Everton before moving to Fulham where he is one of the most key cogs.
With his appearance during the 0-1 loss to Newcastle on the league’s matchday 32, Alex Iwobi took his minutes to 12,289 in the Premier League setting a new record.
“That’s [breaking Mikel’s record] crazy, but I’m not trying to stop”, Iwobi told Kiss Fresh.
“I’m trying to increase that, keep going, and whoever is going to come for that title has got to put in hard work.
“That’s a big achievement because John Obi Mikel is a legend in the game. The fact that I’ve played with him makes me feel old. He was actually my idol at one point. He’s a legend,”
