The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has named legendary striker Hossam Hassan as the new Pharoah's head coach just days after the exit of Rui Vitoria.

Hossam Hassan's appointment was announced on Tuesday by the EFA following an emergency meeting that took place today.

The news comes in contrast to what the EFA itself declared days ago when it was revealed that Mohamed Youssef was appointed as interim head coach until they ‘search for a foreign head coach’.

Moreover, as usual, Hossam’s twin Ibrahim Hassan, has been appointed as the director of the Egyptian national team, but the EFA has not revealed the rest of the coaching staff names.

Hossam Hassan had just taken charge of Modern Future a few days ago, but the club agreed to release him from his contract to take over the national team.

The 57-year-old will become the fifth domestic coach to lead the Egyptian national team in the new century after Hassan Shehata, Shawky Gharieb, Hossam El-Badry, and Ehab Galal.
