Former Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi believes Victor Osimhen would be the best signing to lead Chelsea back to its glory days, boldly declaring the Napoli striker is ready to chase club records and reignite the Blues’ ambitions.

Osimhen, 26, has become one of Europe’s most fearsome strikers since joining Napoli, firing the Italian club to a historic Serie A title and drawing interest from top English Premier League sides.

Chelsea, in the process of rebuilding under new ownership as they are reportedly in the market for a marquee striker, could see the Nigerian hitman as the missing element in their attack.

Speaking with conviction about his fellow Nigerian, Mikel Obi said Osimhen wouldn’t just join the Blues — he would come to make history.

“He will want to break records, win us trophies, get us back to the top, come for Drogba’s records,” Mikel told reporters. “I’m telling you, that would be his mission. We know where we left it, we can literally pick the phone up and get him straight in the door.”

Mikel, who spent over a decade at Stamford Bridge and lifted every major trophy with the Blues, believes Osimhen’s mentality, hunger, and heritage make him a natural fit.

“Victor grew up watching Drogba. He knows what that number 9 shirt means at Chelsea. I’ve spoken to him. He’s hungry, driven. He wants to do something special.”
