Black Starlets head coach Prosper Ogum Narteh has assured fans that Ghana will look like a transformed side when they face hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the WAFU B U-17 Cup of Nations.
The clash, set for the Charles Konan Banny Stadium, will be a repeat of the group stage encounter where Ghana fell 3-0 to the Ivorians. This time, however, Ogum insists his team will take a fresh tactical and mental approach.
Ghana secured their place in the final with a hard-fought victory over rivals Nigeria on Tuesday evening, while Cote d’Ivoire advanced earlier in the day with a convincing win over Burkina Faso.
Speaking after the Nigeria game, Ogum admitted lessons had been learned from the earlier defeat.
“It will be a different Ghana; our structure will be different, our mentality and our character will also be different. They defeated us in the group stage,” Ogum said.
“Fortunately, we’ve played them already, so we know what to do. We’ll go back, prepare ourselves mentally and tactically, and make sure we stay focused on the field. Tactically, we also have to re-strategise to meet them boot for boot.”
Both finalists have already secured qualification for the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, with the final now serving as a battle for regional supremacy.
