Pyramids FC made history by advancing to their first CAF Champions League final with a dramatic 3-2 victory over South Africa’s Orlando Pirates in Cairo.
After a goalless first leg, the Egyptian side staged a comeback in the second leg, thanks to a heroic hat-trick from Fiston Mayele, including the 86th-minute winner.
The Pirates had twice taken the lead through Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota, but Pyramids responded with goals from Ramadan Sobhi and Mayele to turn the tie around. The decisive moment came after Mayele pounced on a rebound late in the game to seal the win.
Pyramids will now face Mamelodi Sundowns in the final, with the two legs scheduled for May 24 and June 1.
