The Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has imposed a four-game ban on the head coach of Morocco for racial gesture towards DR Congo captain Chancel Mbemba at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

Regragui was accused by the Olympique Marseille centre-back of making a racial comment against him during a heated exchange when Morocco were held to a 1-1 stalemate in their AFCON Group E fixture on Sunday.

The exchange came after the Atlas Lions head coach approached the Congolese captain to shake hands with him following the game.

An hour after the game, CAF launched an investigation to shed light on the heated exchange and the FIFA World Cup semi finalist coach has been found guity for breaching the anti-discrimination rules of the competition.

He will be out of the Atlas Lions' dug-out for two games at the 2023 AFCON and two matches for a period of one year. Also, a fine of $5,000 has been imposed on him by the football governing body.

The Morocco FA has annouced that they will appeal the decision from the Confederation of African Football.
