Ghana coach, Otto Addo, has said the inclusion of Nations FC defender Razak Simpson into the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers squad against Angola and Niger is a good move he undertook.
According to the 'talent spotter', Simpson is indeed showing workings to justify his call up and the confidence reposed in him, as fans and analysts alike did not question Simpson's inclusion with prominent figures in the GPL community suggesting he is one of the outstanding centre-backs in the league.
Making a remark on the performance of the player, Addo disclosed that he personally scouted the defender and saw unique qualities in him.
"So for me, again, it's not about local players or non-local players. It's about performance," he stated.
"And you're right, he did well. I saw him at Nations. I've been going around Ghana to watch matches. And he's one of the players which caught my eye. And I think he justified it in the last game and I hope he will continue."
Simpson, one of the six home-based players in the Black Stars squad, brings both size and aerial prowess.
Known for his physical presence, he added a unique output to Ghana's backline, especially given the rarity of lanky centre-backs in the Ghanaian top flight league.
Ghana will play Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium in Accra Today (November 18), with kick off scheduled at 16:00 GMT.
