King of Africa Dancehall music, Shatta Wale has been announced as a performer at Emmanuel Adebayor’s retirement concert in Lome, Togo’s capital.
Dubbed the Jubilee Concert, this event is part of a series of celebrations marking Adebayor’s retirement from professional football.
The former Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur striker officially retired last year at the age of 40 but postponed his retirement party to June 2024. The Jubilee celebrations will kick off on June 19 with a youth marathon and a special female football tournament.
The festivities will culminate in a grand concert at the Stade de Kegue in Lome, where Shatta Wale and other renowned artistes will perform. Shatta Wale confirmed his participation in the concert via a video on Adebayor’s TikTok page.
Adebayor began his career at Togolese club AC Merlan Lome before moving to Europe to join French side FC Metz as a teenager. His illustrious career included stints with Monaco, Real Madrid, and Premier League clubs Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Crystal Palace.
He also played for Turkish sides Istanbul Basaksehir and Kayserispor, and later for Paraguayan team Olimpia Asuncion. Adebayor concluded his career with AC Semmasi in Togo.
The Jubilee Concert promises to be a fitting tribute to Adebayor’s remarkable career and contributions to football.
