French international of Cameroonian descent, Aurelien Tchouameni, has opened up on his trip to Senegal, fresh after France were dumped out of the 2024 European (Euros) Championship.

The Real Madrid midfield linchpin will link up with his Los Blancos teammates in the coming days ahead of pre-season. But before that, the 24-year-old is in Senegal as part of his holiday routine.

He was welcomed by enthusiastic Madridistas, who showed their affection for him on his arrival in Dakar.

Tchouameni shed light on his visit to Senegal, giving a heartwarming explanation for choosing the West African country as an holiday destination over his country of origin - Cameroonian.

“Yesterday [Friday] I went to Touba to visit the new store,” Tchouameni said.

“I also know Casamance because Krepin Diatta spoke to me about it, there was also Nicolas Jackson when I was in Monaco. They always told me about the greater good of the country. As I said, it was with pleasure that I came here and I hope to have time to go to Sali, Dakar is a great city and the country is truly magnificent.

“There are quite a few projects that will be implemented here via my foundation for Senegalese youth. It is an honor for me to come here to meet African and Senegalese youth, to meet them and to give them advice. We had great discussions and I’m very happy to have come here,” he added.
