Ghana Black Starlets captain Issah Abdul Rafiu says the team has identified and corrected the mistakes made during their victory over Benin ahead of their final Group A fixture against Burkina Faso at the 2026 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship.
The Ghana U17 side has enjoyed a strong start to the tournament, securing victories in their opening two matches and booking their place in the semi-finals.
However, Issah admits the team experienced moments of lost concentration during their 3-1 win over Benin and has assured that the players are determined to improve before facing the hosts.
“Just like our coach said, we lost concentration against Benin, but as players we have spoken amongst ourselves and we’ll correct our mistakes,” the Black Starlets captain said.
Ghana began their campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Togo before following it up with a convincing victory against Benin to strengthen their position at the top of Group A.
Despite the impressive results, head coach Kassim Mingle Ocansey has called on his players to remain focused and continue improving as the competition progresses.
The Black Starlets will now face Burkina Faso on Friday in their final group match, with the team aiming to maintain their momentum and build confidence ahead of the knockout stage.
With six points already secured, Ghana have qualified for the semi-finals but will be looking to finish the group phase on a positive note.
