Burkina Faso are the champions of the 2024 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship after beating Cote D'Ivoire by 3-1 in the final last night at the University of Ghana Stadium.

The game was really a balanced one especially in the opening minutes but a brace from their semi-final hero Asahraf Tapsoba, coupled with a late goal from Sawadogo handed the Young Stallions the ultimate in the end.

Burkina Faso who were playing as the home team on the night, opened the scoring account on the 26th minute through Asharaf Lookman Tapsoba.

However, the lead was cancelled out just three minutes later by the Elephanteaux through defender Mohammed Diarra whose body ricochet a hit from miles out by a teammate.

Just four minutes into the second half, Asharaf Lookman Tapsoba once again, got a brace for himself with another sumptuous finish to restore their lead.

With just two minutes to full time, substitute Sheriff Aboubacar Sawadogo made an instant impact by scoring a belter to wrap up a precious 3-1 victory for the Young Stallions.

Burkina Faso after winning the competition have booked a spot in the next CAF U-17 Cup of Nations alongside runners up Cote D'Ivoire.

Third-placed Nigeria and Ghana as it stands, will miss out and can only return if the Confederation of African Football decides to increase the slots as reported days ago.
