Nigeria's Golden Eaglets triumphed over Ghana's under-17 side, the Black Starlets, with a 3-2 win to secure the bronze medal at the WAFU Zone B U17 Football Tournament.

The match took place on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the University of Ghana Stadium.

The Black Starlets aimed for a third-place finish after failing to qualify for the U17 AFCON and the subsequent U17 World Cup. The game started with a goal from Nigeria's Imrana Muhammed in the 8th minute. Muhammed scored with his second attempt after his initial shot was blocked.

Ghana equalized through a set-piece opportunity. Captain Benjamin Tsivanyo delivered a corner, which defender Harve Gbafa headed into the net. Gbafa then scored again, flicking in a cross from Mark Mensah to give Ghana the lead.

However, Nigeria equalized 10 minutes later when Abdulmuiz Adeleke, left unmarked, scored with a header. The score remained 2-2 through the first half and much of the second half until the 92nd minute. Nigeria's late attack culminated in another goal from Adeleke, securing the victory and the bronze medal for the Golden Eaglets.

The last-minute goal crushed the Black Starlets' hopes of a comeback, leaving them unable to respond before the final whistle.
