The Ghana men U-17 national team commenced their WAFU Zone B Championship earlier today with a 1-1 draw against Togo in a very exciting game at the Stade Charles Konan Banny.

Coach Prosper Narteh named a very strong line up led by skipper Joseph Narbi, Robinho Gavi, Adu Gyamfi, goalkeeper Solomon Kwame Kesse and more.

The Black Starlets really fought very well throughout the game and stood their grounds and had their opponents chase the game despite losing a man in the early stages of the game.

The Starlets had what looked like a shaky start following Gabriel Denyinah’s 3rd minute red card but still stood their grounds in the game.

Just six minutes after losing a man, captain Joseph Narbi continued with his explosive having fired the team ahead and held on till the end of half-time.

In the second half, both teams bounced back on a good note with some sumptuous display of football but their Togolese counterparts equalized in the 65th minute from a penalty.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Ghana still remained the dominant side and made series of incursions but unfortunately misplaced most of the final passes which prevented them from getting a goal.

The Black Starlets will take on host Côte d’Ivoire in their second group game on Tuesday, September 23, at the same venue.
