The female national U20 team delivered an impressive performance to inflict a defeat on Tunisia in the 2026 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup Qualifiers
Ghana's Black Princesses commenced their campaign with a winning start after securing a 2-0 convincing win over Tunisia in the first leg tie in Tunis on Saturday afternoon.
Al Ahly forward Mercy Attobrah handed the Black Princesses a blistering start, giving the team the lead in the 4th minute of the game.
Dreamz Ladies' Sarah Nyarko had a golden opportunity to double the lead with a solo effort, but her shot was expertly parried away by the Tunisian goalkeeper.
Despite Ghana's relentless surges forward, Tunisia held their ground, and the teams went into halftime with Ghana maintaining a 1-0 advantage.
Ghana came out strong in the second half, creating an early chance, but Mercy Attobrah's effort was unfortunately ruled offside.
However, Attobrah made amends when she finally found the back of the net after a precise through pass from Linda Owusu Ansah on the left wing, doubling Ghana's lead and sealing the win for the Black Princesses.
The second leg tie is scheduled to take place on September 28, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
A strong performance in the second leg would see Ghana cruise into the next stage of the qualifiers to face the winner of the tie between Eswatini and South Africa.
