Sudan head coach Kwesi Appiah has declared his ambition to lead the Falcons of Jediane to the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) title, after guiding his side past Algeria in a tense quarterfinal clash.

The Sudanese advanced to the semifinals with a dramatic penalty shootout victory, setting up a showdown with Madagascar on Monday, August 26, at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Kickoff is scheduled for 16:30 GMT.

Speaking to CAFOnline, the former Black Stars boss stressed that his team’s mission is not just to participate but to win the continental crown.

“Our goal is beyond just participation. We aspire to achieve the African title,” Appiah said.

He also praised the determination of his players while acknowledging the passionate support of Sudanese fans as a key driving force behind their campaign.

“Millions of Sudanese people follow us, and they also support us, so I say it frankly: we aspire to achieve the African title,” he added.

Sudan will now aim to continue their fairytale run and secure a place in the final of Africa’s home-based championship.
