English Premier League side Aston Villa have completed the signing of Japanese-Ghanaian goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma on a permanent transfer.
The move brings one of Asia’s most promising young goalkeepers to Villa Park after his development across Japan, Belgium and Italy.
Raised in Urawa, Suzuki began his professional career with Urawa Red Diamonds, making his debut at only 16. He later spent time with Belgian club Sint-Truiden before joining Parma, where he played during the past two Serie A seasons.
Suzuki represented Japan at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and has 28 caps for his country. His athleticism, confidence and experience at international and European level make him a significant addition to Aston Villa’s squad.
In moving to Villa Park, Suzuki will become the eighth-most expensive goalkeeper of all time. Kepa Arrizabalaga, Alisson Becker, Andre Onana and James Trafford are the other Premier League representatives ahead of him on that list. He is also now the second most expensive Japanese player ever, behind Shoya Nakajima.
