Hamburger SV centre-back Stephan Ambrosius has earned a maiden call-up to the senior national team of Ghana for this month's 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Central African Republic (CAR).
The Black Stars will host Central African Republic in the last round of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. Ghana need just point to secure a qualification to next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Ivory Coast.
The tough-minded guardsman was among the defenders named by Chris Hughton for Ghana's final Group E game against CAR.
Ambrosius spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Germany Bundesliga 2 side Karlsruher SC, where he made 19 appearances across all competitions.
He returned to his parent club Hamburger SV before the start of the 2023-24 campaign and has already made four appearances.
Stephan Ambrosius completed his nationality switch to play for Ghana ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup but he missed out of the mundial due to injury.
