Abdul-Aziz Yakubu played a key role as Qingdao West Coast secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Shenzhen Peng City in their Chinese Super League Round 3 encounter.
The Ghanaian striker lasted the full 90 minutes and proved decisive in a closely contested match at the Qingdao West Coast University City Stadium.
After a goalless first half, both sides struggled to create clear-cut chances, with the game finely balanced. However, the breakthrough finally came in the 82nd minute when Yakubu delivered a well-timed assist for Davidson, who calmly finished to hand the hosts all three points.
Yakubu, who joined the club in February 2026 from Rio Ave, was influential throughout the game, using his strength and movement to trouble the opposition defence.
The 27-year-old has now made three league appearances this season, registering his first assist as he continues to settle into life in China. With a contract running until December 2027, Yakubu will be aiming to build on this performance and establish himself as a key figure for Qingdao West Coast.
