Ghanaian defender Abdul Mumin has made his long-awaited return to action after more than a year on the sidelines, featuring in Rayo Vallecano’s 1-0 victory over RCD Espanyol in Spanish La Liga round 33 fixture.
The 25-year-old who had been out for over 418 days due to an ACL injury sustained in March 2025, came off the bench in the 81st minute to replace injured Jozhua Vertrouwd.
Just six minutes after his introduction, Sergio Camello netted the decisive goal to seal all three points for Rayo Vallecano on the night.
Mumin’s return marks a significant milestone in his recovery journey, having spent over a year working his way back through training an match fitness.
The reliable center-back has recovered in time and will hope to finish the season on a higher note in order to make the Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
