Dutch top-tier club Ajax Amsterdam have announced that Ghanaian teen midfielder Avery Appiah has signed a professional contract until the summer of 2025.

The 17-year-old enforcer was offered the contract valid for two seasons by Ajax following his exploits at the club's youth side since his arrival in 2020.

The Ajax statement on Wednesday reads "Avery Appiah, a 17-year-old midfielder, was born on April 2, 2006, in Zoetermeer, and is also part of the Ajax U17 squad.”
 
"He joined the Ajax youth academy in the summer of 2020 after starting his training at Sparta and then moving to the Feyenoord youth academy."
 
Appiah has made six appearances in the 2022/23 U17 Divisie 1 Spring, scoring one goal. 
 
Overall, he has played 33 times for the Ajax U17 and U18 teams, scoring five goals and providing three assists.
 
Appiah, who was born to Ghanaian parents in Amsterdam, is eligible to play for Ghana in future despite representing the Dutch U17 team for five times.
