Ghanaian winger Albert Adomah has turned down offer from Aston Villa, according to reports in UK.
The 28-year-old turned down Boro's offer of a new three-year deal last week because the offer was below his expectations.
Aston Villa and Middlesbrough had not agreed terms on the player, but the talks had begun and the player and his representatives were given permission to talks terms, but Adomah - whose his current deal due to expire next summer - decided against the switch.
It is believed that talks are set to continue between Boro and the player, although there is still interest coming from Premier League sides Burnley and Crystal Palace, who could both yet make firm moves before Wednesday's transfer deadline.
Adomah was left out of Boro's squad to face West Bromwich Albion on Sunday due to the contract wrangle.
