The French second-tier side have parted ways with the Ghanaian defender in this summer transfer window

French Ligue 2 outfit Amiens SC have released Ghana international centre-back Nicholas Opoku ahead of the upcoming football campaign.

 The 26-year-old former Udinese guardsman was released together with his other eight team-mates by the French lower division campaigners this summer.

Announcing their departures, the Amiens-based side have said via their club's official website: "At the dawn of the next Ligue 2 BKT season, Amiens SC announces the departure of 9 players, all of whom will have their contracts expiring on June 30, 2024.

"Youssouf, Maxime, Mamadou, Jérémy, Charbel, Jack, Nicholas, Ayman, Sébastian: the Club thanks you for your commitment and professionalism since your arrival in Picardy. The President of Amiens SC, Bernard Joannin, as well as the entire Club wish you much success in your respective projects and hope to meet you on or off the field."

Before severing ties with the ex-Berekum Chelsea man, he made 105 appearances, assisting 2 across all competitions for the Les Licornes since linking up with them in 2021.

Opoku has so far earned 17 caps with the men's senior national team the Black Stars.
