Ghana’s most capped player, Andre Ayew after a while off, returned into action last Saturday after coming on as a substitute for his new club NAC Breda in their pulsating goalless draw away at FC Groningen.
The 36-year-old has been out of competitive action since the commencement of the 2025/26 football season but has finally returned having joined the Yellow-Blacks on a short term deal with an option to extend.
After few training sessions with his new teammates, Andre finally made his debut in the thrilling Eredivisie round 18 clash at the Euroborg Stadium where he came on as a substitute for French youngster Moussa Soumano.
The ex- Ghana captain had a descent debut in the 33 minutes played with 20 touches, one shot and dribble, five and two ground and aerial duels won respectively hoping to subsequently establish himself as a mainstay and a regular starter in the team.
NAC Breda after the draw are still in the relegation zone; sitting in 17th with 14 points and will host NEC Nijmegen in their next game.
Andre Ayew will hope for more playing time at the Rat Verlegh Stadion in order to be eligible to make the Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
