Egyptian club Al Ahly SC have had their bid for the service of Ghanaian midfielder Augustine Boakye turned down by his club AS Saint-Etienne who are unwilling to let-go of him anytime soon.

The 24-year-old joined the Stéphanois prior to the start of the ongoing campaign after an impressive spell with Austrian fold Wolfsberger AC and has been battling injuries since hoping to stay fully fit and find his rhythm as quick as possible.

His main highlights so far this season is the brace he scored in a resounding 3-1 win over Stade Reims early last month to earn himself a spot in the French Ligue 1 team of match-day 16

Rumour has it that, African giants Al Ahly SC were really pushing for the service of the former WAFA star whom they believe will be a perfect addition to the club especially in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup which will be held in the summer under a new format.

However, the Red Devils couldn't have the deal sealed having had their offer thrown away by both the club and the player - who wishes to continue in Europe and isn't ready to return to Africa.

Augustine Boakye has three goals in 16 appearances in all competitions so far and will hope for a starting spot against Angers tonight.
