English Premier League side Aston Villa have reportedly expressed interest in signing Athletic Bilbao attacker Nico Williams in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Williams, whose contract with the San Memes Stadium outfit expires in 2024, has emerged as a top transfer target on the wishlist of Unai Emery's side.

The talented winger is uncertain about his future at the Spanish La Liga outfit and Aston Villa are considering his acquisition after losing out on Marco Asensio, who has agreed to join Paris Saint-Germain in France.

The Spanish international of Ghanaian descent has a release clause worth €50 million in his contract with Athletic Bilbao.

The Aston Villa manager wanted to bring Nico Williams to the club back in January. But the 20-year-old wanted to continue at Athletic Club until the end of the season and then decided his future.

Nico Williams, who is the younger brother of Ghana striker Inaki Williams, is currently rated among the top teen sensations in European football.

He scored six goals and provided four assists in 36 La Liga appearances for Athletic Bilbao in the just concluded season.
