Baba Alhassan, who is originally from Ghana, trained with Uganda for the first time after confirming his eligibility to play for the Cranes.

The Steaua București midfielder joined his new teammates for training at the Lonari Sports Club on Tuesday, 11 November 2025, ahead of Uganda’s upcoming international friendlies against Chad and Morocco.

Alhassan, 25, was born in Ghana but opted to represent Uganda through his mother’s heritage. The midfielder, who previously featured for Real Valladolid in Spain, received his first call-up to the Cranes squad for this month’s international window.

The midfielder could make his debut when Uganda face Chad on 14 November before taking on Morocco, the AFCON 2025 hosts, four days later.
Uganda head coach Paul Put has praised the midfielder’s integration into the squad.

The Cranes are stepping up preparations for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where they have been drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia, Tanzania and Nigeria.

Alhassan has made a solid start to the season in Romania, featuring in 10 league matches and contributing an assist for Steaua București.
