After failing to secure a loan move to the Austrian top-tier outfit during the summer, the 17-year-old sensation of Ghanaian descent is now set to spent the second half of the season with his former employers on a season-long loan deal in January
Regionalliga Bayern side SpVgg Unterhaching have announced the loan signing of their former wonderkid Gibson Nana Adu from his mother club Bayern Munich.
The budding Ghanaian starlet completed a season-long loan move to Austrian Bundesliga side SCR Altach on transfer deadline day. However, the deal was called off due to UEFA regulations over his age, with the side deemed as a Category 4 club at the international level.
Nonetheless, those who were once nurturing his talent before cashing in on him to the German giants have now secured his loan deal for the rest of the campaign and would link up with them in Januaray 2026.
A statement from the club's official website read: ''SpVgg Unterhaching are bolstering their attack with a familiar face. Striker Gibson Adu returns to the uhlsport PARK during the winter transfer window.
''The 17-year-old will be loaned from FC Bayern Munich starting January 1, 2026. Adu moved from the suburban club to the record German champions in the summer of 2024 and signed a contract there until June 30, 2027. He gained valuable experience at FC Bayern this season, but is now expected to receive consistent playing time at a high level in Unterhaching.
''The attacking player joined the Red and Blues from the youth academy of FSV Mainz 05 in 2022 and progressed through the club's U17 and U19 youth teams. At the age of 16 years and three days, he made his professional debut in the 3. Liga on February 17, 2024, against Arminia Bielefeld – becoming the youngest player in the club's history to do so. He subsequently made a total of 18 appearances and scored his first professional goal in the home match against VfB Lübeck.''
Born and raised to Ghanaian parents in Germany, Gibson could be a sure bet for Ghana at the international level given his magnificent talent as a Bayern Munich future prospect.
