Japan will miss the service of goalkeeper Zion Suzuki ahead of their Kirin Challenge Cup game against Ghana and friendly against Bolivia due to injury.

The 23-year-old was in goal over the weekend for his club Parma in their match-day 11 Serie A game against AC Milan that finished in a pulsating 2-2 draw.

Despite playing all minutes, the stalwart goalie sustained left finger injury and won’t be able to honour Japan’s call-up as he is now ruled out to fully focus on quick recovery so he will be available after the November international break.

Official club statement from Parma  after the scans reads;

"After picking up an injury against AC Milan last night, Zion Suzuki underwent scans today, which revealed a composite fracture in the middle finger of his left hand and in the scaphoid bone," Parma said in a statement on Sunday.

"Suzuki will undergo further specialist consultation in the coming days, and he will also have to undergo an eventual surgery in order to help cure the injury."

Japan will host Ghana at the Toyota Stadium in Aichi on Friday, November 14.
