German-born defender Derrick Kohn is in line to make his long-awaited debut for Ghana after receiving FIFA clearance to represent the Black Stars.
The 25-year-old Union who was born in Hamburg to Ghanaian parents, is expected to join the squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Japan and South Korea in the Kirin Cup.
Kohn’s inclusion comes as head coach Otto Addo announced his squad for the upcoming tournament in Japan, where Ghana will play Japan and South Korea as part of their preparations for 2026 World Cup tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Union Berlin confirmed the defender’s call-up, marking his first official invitation since resolving his eligibility issues.

Kohn was previously called up by Addo during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers but was unable to make his debut due to delays in the switch process.
With the matter now settled, the former Hannover 96 and Hamburger SV player is expected to pull on the Ghana jersey for the first time when the Black Stars face Japan on Friday, November 14, before meeting South Korea four days later.
The two friendlies will provide Otto Addo’s side with a valuable chance to assess new additions and fine-tune their preparations ahead of a busy international calendar.
